Appointments and First Consultation
The patient service guide to the Plastic Surgery & Aesthetics Medical Center at Chongqing West District Hospital.
Service information, not a disease library
It Answers the Appointment Questions
How to book, which channel to use, what to have ready, how far ahead to plan, what happens at a first consultation and at a pre-operative visit, what to bring, and what you should be given afterwards. These are the questions patients ask most often, and they are usually answered badly or not at all.
It Is Deliberately Not a Treatment Catalogue
This site does not describe procedures, recommend operations, or quote prices. Those conversations belong in a consulting room, with your history and your examination in front of the clinician. What can be explained in advance is how the service works, and that is what is here.
It Is Written to Be Checked
Every guide is reviewed by the lead physician before publication and carries the date of that review. If a statement here does not match what you are told in person, the in-person clinical information prevails — and we would want to know about the discrepancy.
An appointment is an assessment, not an order
The most important thing a consultation can produce is an honest answer, and sometimes the honest answer is that nothing should be done. We would rather explain that in advance than have you discover it after travelling.
No Guaranteed Outcomes
No treatment outcome can be promised, and treatment may be declined, deferred, or reduced to a smaller option. A plan and an estimate are proposals based on the assessment, and either may change after examination or after tests.
Waiting Times Are Honest
Waiting times vary by surgeon, by complexity and by season, and an estimated wait can move when emergencies are added to a list. Urgent problems — a changing lesion, an unhealed wound, a postoperative complication — are prioritised, and we will say so plainly.
The Plan Comes in Writing
You should leave a consultation with what was found, what is proposed, what the alternatives are, what it is expected to cost, and how long you have to decide. Nothing is agreed on the day, and a second opinion is a reasonable thing to seek.
Chongqing West District Hospital
Chongqing West District Hospital is a tertiary general hospital developed as a major healthcare project for Chongqing, with a planned capacity of up to 1,200 beds and more than 300 types of advanced medical equipment. More than 200 specialists with backgrounds at institutions affiliated with Army Medical University practice across more than 40 clinical departments, supported by nine major medical centres including the Plastic Surgery & Aesthetics Medical Center.
The hospital's culture, shaped by military medicine, emphasises discipline, rigour, and responsibility in clinical care. For a patient arranging an appointment, the practical advantage is that a first consultation can lead in any direction the assessment justifies: a dermatology opinion, a minor procedure, an operation, or a referral to another specialty — all within the same institution, with anesthesia, intensive care, imaging and pathology on site.
Start with a consultation, not a decision
Reach out to arrange an assessment. We take a history, examine what concerns you, and explain honestly what can and cannot be done — including the option of waiting, or of doing nothing at all. Nothing is agreed on the day, and no plan is guaranteed until you have read it.
